Transcript of David Tepper’s 2007 Presentation at Carnegie Mellon

David Tepper, manager of the highly successful hedge fund, Appaloosa Management, rarely speaks publicly. When he does, it is usually focused on the current market environment. However, in 2007, he gave a 1-hour presentation to a group of undergraduate students at Carnegie Mellon University, his alma mater. In it, he spoke candidly about his serendipitous career path, mistakes and lessons he has made along the way, the importance of prioritizing family, and his love for investing as well as the education he received at Carnegie Mellon. This presentation, which was once available to the public on Carnegie Mellon’s website, but has since been removed, is quite good. We had it transcribed and hope that you enjoy it.
